“To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place… I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.” – Elliott Erwitt

Frame by Frame!

The beginning to my online note book.

The more I learn about photography the more I want to learn!  I want to know everything there is to know.  I can’t get enough.  But the more I learn the more I realize that I need a place to keep everything – tips, tricks, camera settings and what they mean, photos I want to try, edit tips, etc.  Hence, this blog!!
I know right, I’m the last person anyone would ever expect to have a blog but it’s for me.  An online note book.  A reference place.  Someday maybe I’ll share it with friends and family but for now I think I’ll keep it to myself.

I followed along with a creativeLIVE Lightroon class today hosted by Laura Shoe.  It’s a 3 day online class and I was very lucky to have the day off!!

Today she went over importing, selecting flags, searching, moving photos to new folders, collections, etc.  All very useful information!  Before today I didn’t know that you could manage your photos on your hard drive from within Lightroom.  This alone is going to save me hours of work and a bunch of headaches.  Thank you Laura!!

Notes from today:
  • Place photos on your hard drive where you want them and import into Lightroom.
  • Delete pictures that you don’t want from Lightroom and from your hard drive by selecting ‘remove from hard drive’.
  • Use the flags to select what photos I want to keep and what ones I want to delete.
  • Type 0 (zero) to remove a star rating.
  • Applying metadata to your pictures is a good thing and I now know how to add it!
I’ll add more detail (step by step instructions) on some of these later but for now I want to practice some things before I forget.
What's a photo blog without a photo...even if I'm the only one who will see it!
