“To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place… I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.” – Elliott Erwitt

Lifestyle Photography.

As a new, very new, photographer (and I use that term loosely when describing myself) I haven’t yet figured out my style.  I’m in love with portraiture; I see amazing beautiful photos every day, ones I can only dream of being able to take someday.

I naturally gravitate toward portraiture, lifestyle portraiture in particular.  I’m still fumbling along this amazing journey that I’m sincerely grateful I discovered.  I don’t expect to ‘find my style’ quite this easily and I know it’ll take years of practice and learning.

That said there’s something about capturing the everyday moments that allow you to take a peek into the personalities of the people in a photo that draws me in.  Capturing life as it goes in an artistic manner is what makes my heart sing.

These are the photos that I hang, with pride, in my home and the moments that I want to remember.

summer photography challenge

Courtney from Click it up a Notch is offering as a free download on her Facebook page, a 30 day challenge on photographing your kids.  There are some really amazing ideas in there, and I think that I’m going to give it a try.

Ok, I’ll face it.  There’s no way I’m able to get these all completed in just 30 days so I’ll commit to getting as many of these accomplished as I can this summer – my summer photography challenge!!
I couldn’t wait to get started on these.  Challenge photograph #1 is:

Day 23: Brushing teeth.

Because I know me, and Owen, I’m also not going to commit to completing them in a row.  That just adds another level of complexity that will ensure I give up before I even really get started.
Towards the end of the summer I’ll see how many I get done.

Wish me luck!!
